Sawyer James comes to Chicago (and Preserve) with Phil Elverum in their headphones and hunger in their heart. Though humbled by 2020's pervasive uncertainty, Sawyer is ready as ever to take part in the world’s alchemy; to serve as prism for whatever sounds may emerge.
Sawyer James' debut album, SON, spans the playful and the psychological, the euphoric and the sinister, on its quest for self-understanding. The project is a spacious communion of past and present -- "Necessary work", Sawyer says. "Songs I need to get out of me.”
Over the course of its 11-song journey, SON interrogates identity from a mosaic of angles, with eyes ever-fixed on growth and healing.
